What equipment can iRidium control?

With the help of iRidium you can control AMX, EIB/KNX, ModBus (TCP, RTU, ASCII), DOMINTELL, Shturman.


For protocols X10, HELVAR, TECO, Smartbus iRidium is being run through the Beta Testing. You are welcome to join the testing of these protocols.

 

With the help of iRidium AV CONTROL you can control almost any AV equipment (TV, DVD, Bluray, projectors, AV receivers, media-servers, DVRs, camcorders, devices of the Globalcache, iRTrans type, etc.).

iRidium Client – software system principal part, launches a ready graphic interface on the iPhone/iPad, Windows. Responsible for the interaction among the launched on the device interface with the controller and equipment. 

 

iRidium GUI Editor – graphic editor, allows to create different control panel interfaces. Contains a graphics gallery and typical interfaces for a faster setting. Channels and commands in the graphic editor are bound to control buttons, sliders and other elements. 

 

iRidium Wizard – converts the interface, created in the iRidium GUI into the *.irr  format for its further uploading on the iPhone/iPad. Prepares the startup file for the Windows application. Also performs the conversion of the files from other formats: AMX TPDesign4, Pronto Edit Professional.
 

iRidium Transfer – uploads the file with the interface prepared in iRidium Wizard on the iPhone, iPad and checks for iPhone/iPad license availability.
 

iRidium Gate – improves interaction between iPhone, iPad, Windows panels and several types of equipment  (KNX, Domintell, X10, Smartbus).

 

For example, IP Router of the JUNG IPR 100 REG type is used for controlling the KNX equipment.  With such a connection mode there are two limitations:

 

1. Only single TCP connection. As a result when a second, third iPhone / iPad are added to it is also required to add additional IP Routers.
2. Under an incorrect connection release IP Router does not respond to control commands during several minutes.


iRidium Gate eliminates these limitations. iRidium Gate can be installed on any computer and ensures a multiple connection via one IP Router, as well as it is responsible for а hardwired connection. That makes iPhone, iPad control stable, reliable and lowers the cost when adding a second, third or more devices.

Native code

iRidium program is written in C++ and Objective C language. It ensures operational speed of the application and consistency. Additional servers and additional program modules for controllers are not required for the program operation. Interaction between the controller and equipment is performed directly from the iPhone / iPad via WiFi and Internet. iRidium and controller interaction pattern

We developed iRidium openGL specifically for graphics operation – it is a graphics engine on the basis of the OpenGL technology that ensures a quick interface operation as well as a set of special effects for buttons, pages, text. Magnificent graphic interfaces

iRidium GUI allows to create incredibly unique and dynamic interfaces. People aim at creating an inimitable design, special atmosphere when engineering their houses, yachts, apartments. iRidium allows to add this individuality to the control panels. You can create very large interfaces with a set of animated effects. iRidium ensures their fast and stable operation on any iPhone, iPad. We created the interfaces with a capacity of 40 megabytes; they operated perfectly and faster than on AMX standard panels.

You can use the ready interfaces, created in AMX TP4 and Pronto Edit Professional editors. It will ease your work. Use iRidium Wizard for conversion of ready interfaces into the iRidium GUI Editor (*.irp) format.

Command uploading from the ETS project for KNX

iRidium GUI Editor contains a VERY useful function – command uploading from the ETS project for KNX as well as from similar files for Domintell, Insyte. Security

Can I set my password on iRidium launch?

You can set a password with the help of iRidium Wizard, it doesn’t require you to make any changes in your initial project. Password setting is possible for both Windows and iPhone Client.

Graphic features

Can iRidium view an image from webcams?

Yes, it can. iRidium can get an image from IP-cams in JPEG and MJPEG formats as well as it can view dynamic images. For more details click HERE

What FPS rate can I get at GPRS and 3G connection?

Video FPS rate depends on the following factors:

a. Screen resolution and compression rate
b. Sender and receiver bandwidths
c. Connection ping

To support the information given above, we can share the results of the field testing. We managed to get from 0.4 to 1.5 frames per second via GPRS at the resolution of 320x240 and 80% jpg quality. While using 3G connection we gained the rate up to 7–10 FPS with the same image properties.

How to control a video recorder?

You can control a video recorder and a network camera with the help of iRidium AV CONTROL.

What graphic elements can I use in iRidium?

iRidium supports 5 types of graphic elements:

Button – button with two possible modes (on/off).
Level – slider, controls the signal level.
Multistate button – button with multitude modes. A background image changes while pressing the button. This element is set arbitrarily.
Multistate Level – slider with multitude possible modes. A background image depends on the signal level. The element is set arbitrarily.
List – list containing a number of entries, specified by a user (playlist, list of elements, etc.)

Can I add my elements to the graphic gallery?

Besides, AMX TPDesign4 (*.TP4) projects can be used as a base for making GUI design for ANY supported controller. How many GUI designs can I upload on a device?

You can use only a single design to run on a single device at once. The maximum size of a GUI design for version 1.4 should not be exceed 40mb. In order to change your current design you need to upload its new GUI design on your device. Design upload, update and change is performed with the help of iRidium Transfer. Can I use Pronto EditProfessional projects?

Yes, you can. Just convert a project into the format suitable for uploading to iPad/iPhone/iPod or into the application format for uploading to Windows-based devices. You can also convert a Pronto EditProfessional project into iRidium Project (*.irp) which can be modified in iRidium GUI editor. All the above-described is performed with the help of iRidium Wizard. Can I use AMX TPDesigner4 projects?

Yes, you can. Just convert a project into the format suitable for uploading to iPad/iPhone/iPod or the application format for uploading to Windows-based devices. You can also convert a AMX TPDesigner4 project into iRidium Project (*.irp) which can be modified in iRidium GUI editor. All the above-described is managed with the help of iRidium Wizard component. Controller-mediated communication

I can’t connect iRidium to my controller, what should I do?

1. Turn off your firewall software, as it may block iRidium requests.
2. Ping the connection between your PC and your controller, if you are running Windows Client. Ping (OS Windows): Start -> Run -> ping *controller IP-address*;
Check the connection between your iPad/iPhone/iPod (for instance, using the Network Ping Light application, which is available in the AppStore) and your controller – if you are running iPhone Client.
3. If you are running iPhone Client, check whether a license for the device is added in iRidium Transfer. Without the license iRidium will load a project but connection to a controller is absent in this case.
4. Check whether the controller properties (host, port) are correctly set in iPhone Client. Make sure there are no symbols of the invalid type or spaces.
5. Reinstall the clients for PC and iPad/iPhone/iPod, then restart devices.

Can iRidium work on a virtual machine (VirtualBox, VMWare, Windows for Mac emulators)?

No, the software should be used on a genuine PC only. iRidium incorrectly works on a virtual machine.

What data channels does iRidium support to control the automation systems (intelligent systems)?

For wireless devices::

  • iPhone 3G, 3GS : GPRS, 3G, Wi-Fi
  • iPod touch: Wi-Fi

The system works via Internet with a static IP address or by using DYNDNS service.

What is iRidium speed in 3G and GPRS networks?

What channel bandwidth is needed for the system to work properly? As practice has made it clear, 5–10 kb (GPRS) per second is enough for sending the commands to a controller and receiving feedback. But in case you make the permanent sending of the STRING data type with 100–200 symbols and moreover with 20–30 messages per second, the speed of 5–10 kb will not be sufficient for that. In that event you need about 30–100 kb (3G) per second. Please keep it in mind while creating your personal GUI for control panel.

A license is purchased for a single visualization device. It means that you need to buy a license for each automation control device when adding them in your control system.

Is there any opportunity to purchase a license for the whole company?

There is no such an opportunity.

What should I do if my device got crashed, broken or lost?
