1. Turn off your Firewall and antivirus software as it may block iRidium requests.

2. Check the ping connectivity between your PC and your controller, if you are running Windows Client. Ping (OS Windows): Start -> Run -> cmd -> ping *controller IP-address*;
Check the ping connectivity between your iPad/iPhone/iPod (for example, using the Network Ping Light application, that can be downloaded from the App Store) and your controller – if you are running iPhone Client.

3. f you are running iPhone Client, check whether an iRidium license for a device is attached to iRidium Transfer. iRidium will launch a project but there won’t be any communication with the controller without a license.
For Windows Client a license should be added to a project folder.

4. Check whether the controller properties (host, port, parameters) are correctly set in GUI Editor or Transfer. Make sure there are no odd symbols or spaces in the address in iPhone Client. Do not forget to enter ALL the required connection settings. Make sure that either Internal (LAN) or External (WAN) connection type is selected in iPhone Client.

5. If the connection is made through iRidium Gate, check that port 10000 is not busy. (The port can be used by the uTorrent application or blocked on your router). In order to check it you can use the TcpView application or a command string (cmd): netstat /a

6. Reinstall Clients on PC and iPad/iPhone/iPod, then restart the devices.

What specific features does a project running WITHOUT a license have?

There is no communication with a controller. However, graphics and navigation operation is correct and not limited in any way.

What is the difference between operation with a purchased license (Base license) and a demo license? Are there any limitations?

Both license types are functionally identical, BUT when a project with a demo license is launched, a note will be displayed in the top left corner saying that a license is available for system installers only and cannot be used for commercial purposes: «Demo version. Not for sale»
The main difference of a purchased license (Base license) is that it includes only the protocol that has been purchased and is not suitable for using with other protocols, until they won’t be additionally purchased.

Who can obtain a demo license?

A demo license can be obtained by system installer/integrator companies, iRidium mobile partners and distributors, and active testers.

What protocols are included into a demo license?

A demo license contains all iRidium supported protocols.

How many devices can a demo license be bound to? How many devices can a purchased license (Base license) be bound to?

Both a demo license and a purchased license (Base license) can be bound to a single control device only.

Are there any limitations for a number of devices that are controlled with the help of a demo license?

No, there aren’t. A number of devices that are controlled with the help of a demo license is not limited and depends only on your project performance capabilities.

What documentation is provided when a license is purchased?

If your payment is made by a credit card, all the necessary documentation is provided by our partner-Avangate payment system (www.avangate.com). When it comes to a bank transfer we provide you with the Invoice and Acceptance Report (if required).

How long does it take you to provide activation keys?

In case you pay by a credit card a key is sent immediately after payment. If you choose a bank transfer a key is sent within 24 hours.

What does it mean to activate a license?

License activation means generation of a license file. After you buy a license you receive an activation key that is to be bound to a target device (a control device is not determined until a key is bound). A key is activated at  license-maker web site.

What is license-maker web site?

License-maker is a web site specially created for activation of iRidium purchased licenses. There you can generate a license file (Receive a license file) and recover the key (Recover a license file). You receive an activation key in a letter after you purchase a license.

What Login and Password are required to have an access to the keymaker.iridiummobile.net activation site?

The Login and Password for the activation site access will be sent to you in a notification letter after a license purchase. Save the notification letter in case you need to recover your license (you may need the activation key later).

What actions are available at the activation site?

Activation of a key (Receive a license file) - you will receive a license file that is ready for operating with a target device. License recovery (Recover a license file) - you can generate the license file that you may need in case of its loss (accidental deleting) again.

What information is required to recover a license?

In order to recover a license you need the activation key (that you previously received after purchasing the license) and the Device Identifier (HWID/UDID), which was used for the Base license activation.

What is HWID? How can I receive it?

HWID is a unique Windows XP/7 based Device Identifier. You need HWID to bind a license to a particular device. HWID is bound to PC HDD. Make sure that you do not use SSD or Flash sticked devices to obtain an Identifier and activate a license (otherwise, you will receive a new HWID at every launch and your license will be lost). What should I do if I receive a new HWID every time?

Such situation is possible if you are running a Windows 7 device and the rights of your current account are limited to perform some particular actions. In that case, you can have difficulties with an incorrect HWID generation. In order to solve the problem, you need to run iRidium under Administrator rights. You can do it in the following ways:
 

1. Right-click on the software icon and select “Run as Administrator” in the menu.
 

2. Open the Properties window (Compatibility tab), mark “Run as Administrator”, press the OK button. Launch the software in a standard way.
 

3. Activate the Administrator account and operate using it.
 

You can activate it by right-clicking on: Computer – Manage – Local Users and Groups – Users – then right-clicking again on Administrator – Properties – remove a tick from “Account is Disabled”. After it you need to sign out of your current account and enter it again using the Administrator account.

What is UDID? How can I receive it?

UDID is a unique iOS based Device (iPad/iPhone/iPodTouch) Identifier. You need UDID to bind a license to a particular device. You can obtain UDID using the iTunes application. See more details at: UDID (for iPhone) / HWID (for Windows) Receipt

Do I need to complete the activation site application form every time I activate a key?

You need to complete the activation site application form only once, when you activate a key. After that, it will be automatically completed when using the same e-mail address (if you change an e-mail address you will have to complete the application form again).

What is a license?

A license is a file of the *.irl. format. It is named licence.irl  by default.

What should I do if I made a mistake when activating a license (entered a wrong Identifier (UDID/HWID) or a wrong e-mail address)?

Can I replace/reset the purchased license and what is requiered to do that?

If you have a purchased license we can replace/reset it in three main cases:

1. if a device was broken (in evidence, a picture of a broken device can be sent to us);
 

2. if a device was stolen;
 

3. if a device was upgraded/a newly released device was bought (in evidence, a certificate of the device upgrade or a device certificate for a new device can be provided).
 

If you want to replace/reset the DEMO license, you need to notify us about the reasons for it and we will be able to replace/reset it without any evidence provided. If your device is repaired, UDID/HWID usually remains the same, so you will not need to have a new license, but if your UDID/HWID becomes different, please, notify us of it and if your case comes under the three above-said cases, we will replace/reset your license.

What should I do if I lost (deleted) a license file?

Perform the “Recover a license file” action at the license-maker web site. You will need the activation key (that you previously received after purchasing a license) and the device HWID/UDID which was used for license activation.

What are the Transfer application functions?

Transfer is used to convert designs that are created in iRidium GUI Editor (or TPDesign4 for AMX) into a format for their launching on a target device. It allows to update designs and set their general properties (for example, start up password, unable/disable sound, connection properties to the target equipment). If you are running Windows, Transfer makes a folder with the application that is ready to be launched on a target device. If you are running iOS, Transfer provides an interaction between PC and Client and ensures design uploading on a target device.

How a design is added to Transfer?

Design adding to Transfer is performed by Drag&Drop method i.e. by dragging of a design file (*.IRP or *.TP4) to the Designs window. You can also add a design with the help of the Add Design button.

What should I do if the Drag&Drop method doesn’t function for a design?

The Drag&Drop method doesn’t function in case you lack user rights (it is only possible if you are running Windows 7, it is not relevant for Windows XP). Activate the Administrator account on your PC and continue operating under Administrator rights (it can also be helpful in solving problems with HWID receipt connected with lack of user rights). You can activate it by right-clicking on: Computer – Manage – Local Users and Groups – Users – then right-clicking again on Administrator – Properties – remove a tick from “Account is Disabled”. After it you need to sign out of your current account and enter again using the Administrator account.

Can I set a password for iRidium design launching?

Yes, you can. Password setting is made in design properties (press “Add Design” in iRidium Transfer).

Can I enable sound when pressed on design items?

Yes, you can. Sound enabling is set in design properties (“Add Design” in iRidium Transfer).

Do I need to set a mark of the full screen mode in design properties for iOS projects?

No, you don’t. Full screen mode setting is actual only for WindowsXP/7 based devices.

I do not want anybody to view device connection settings for my projects, can I secure them?

Yes, you can. A password to view connection properties can be set in Transfer settings.

Design development environment for AMX (TRDesign4) supports resolutions of only standard AMX panels. How can I create a project for iPhone or iPad in TPDesign4?

You can use a special patch for it that adds quite a number of resolutions of Windows and iOS based devices to TPDesign4. The patch activation is made from the Transfer menu (Properties tag).

What is iRidium Client for iOS?

iRidium Client for iOS is a part of iRidium software package that is responsible for launching of a ready graphic interface on an iOS based device and that provides an interaction between Client and a target equipment. iRidium Client for iOS should be installed and set on your iDevice.

Where can I find iRidium Client for iOS?

iRidium Client for iOS is called iRidiumHD, it is available for its downloading from the App Store:  iTunes

How can I add Clients (devices) to Transfer?

Client adding is made by the Device Search method. After you press the Search icon, Transfer detects all iOS devices with the launched iRidiumHD Client. Read more about the Search function at our Wiki, section Transfer.

What do red cells for Client found by Search mean?

Red cells mean that you need to add a license file and a design for a device. License absence leads to lack of controller connection, lack of a bound design makes it impossible to upload your interfaces to a control device

Will a design be uploaded to an iOS based device without a license?

Yes, it will. But there will be no connection with a controller.

Where can I learn about a solution of problems that may arise when I upload a design on an iOS device?

What should I do if a project is launched but there is no communication with a controller?

Make sure you correctly followed all the F.A.Q. recommendations. If it still does not help, contact iRidium Technical Support.

How can I use a license for Windows Client?

A license is added to a folder with a project converted in Transfer (that is a folder containing iridium.exe, resourse.irs, main.irr files). Projects are stored in the “My documents/iRidium projects” directory by default.

How can I find out that a license is not compatible with Client for which it is used?
If you are running an iOS device Transfer will display a notification message saying that a license is not correct (“wrong license file”). If you are running a Windows based device – a project will also be launched with a notification message saying that there is a “wrong license file”. If a license is correct, no notification messages will be displayed.

What connection channels allow you to control automation systems with the help of iRidium?

For wireless devices: Wi-Fi and 3G. For wired devices: Wired Ethernet.

Is it possible to operate via Internet?

Yes, it is possible if you have a static IP-address or use the DYNDNS service.

How fast is iRidium in the 3G and GPRS networks?

A rule of thumb states that 5–10 kbps (GPRS) is enough for sending the commands to a controller and receiving the feedback. But in case you make a permanent sending of the STRING type data with 100–200 symbols and with 20–30 messages per second, the speed of 5–10 kbps will not be enough for that. In that case you need about 30–100 kbps (3G).

Is it possible to control media centers?

Yes, it is. The XBMC driver is integrated into every iRidium product. Windows Media Center can be controlled with the help of the Autonomics system.

Can iRidium continue running after iPhone/iPad/iPod firmware upgrade?

Do not upgrade your device firmware without making sure that iRidium iPhone Client is updated accordingly because modifications in iOS can lead to serious damage of software operation.

Can iRidium view an image from a webcam?

 Yes, it can. iRidium can get an image from IP-cams in JPEG and MJPEG formats. It can also get dynamic images. Make sure that your IP cam can process HTTP requests for streaming video receipt.

How many video FPS can I get at GPRS and 3G connection?

We managed to get from 0.4 to 1.5 frames per second via GPRS with the resolution of 320x240 and 80% jpg quality. While using 3G connection we gained the rate up to 7–10 FPS with the same image properties.

How to control a video recorder?

You can control a video recorder and a local network camera with iRidium AV CONTROL (Custom HTTP that allows you to shape HTTP commands similar to those your camera or video recorder web interface uses).

Sample iRidium designs are available at our Wikipedia in the article Sample designs Besides, AMX TPDesign4 (*.TP4) projects can be used as a base for making a GUI design for ANY supported controller. How many GUI designs can I upload to a device?

If you use a portable iOS based device you can simultaneously use only a single design to run on a single device (not relevant for Windows based PCs). The maximum size of a GUI design should not exceed 40 mb. In order to change your current design you need to upload its new GUI version to your device. Design upload, update and change is performed with the help of IRidium Transfer

Can I use AMX TPDesigner4 projects?

Yes, you can. Just convert a project into the format suitable for its uploading to iPad/iPhone/iPod or into the application format for its uploading to Windows based devices. You can also convert an AMX TPDesigner4 project into the iRidium Project (*.irp) which can be modified in iRidium GUI Editor.  All the above-mentioned actions are preformed with the help of iRidium Transfer component.
